For children in the impoverished community of El Pozon, access to healthcare often means parents must face the heartbreaking choice of either traveling long distances to overcrowded clinics or going to work that day to keep food on the table for their families. Conviventia partners with U.S.- based mission teams to bring much needed medical support directly to these destitute people.
In El Pozon, people seeking medical care form long lines outside the few medical clinics available to them. With more than 450,000 people living in extreme poverty, daily life is a struggle just to eat. Most residents of El Pozon, when faced with losing a day's income, will postpone seeing to their medical needs until minor problems turn into major ones that can't be ignored.
Conviventia organizes and delivers medical mission teams to the local barrios in El Pozon each year. These teams focus on disease prevention, health promotion, and early diagnoses, providing lasting hope to the communities they serve. We have a medical mission team traveling to Colombia the week of September 22-29, 2018 and to make this outreach possible, we need your help to raise funds for medical supplies.
When the health of El Pozon's residents improves, they are able to focus on education and generating income, both of which empower them to break free of poverty and lead lives of dignity. The focus of Conviventia is to holistically address four primary areas of need -- Health and Well-Being, Family Strengthening, Education, and Income Generation. This approach, along with your help, brings true and lasting transformation to countless lives.
