Project Report | Sep 23, 2022
Continuous services for the sick and the dying

By Virginia Cabrera | Hospice Social Worker

This report shows the continous service to our patients and their family/ies.  Just a simple visit and                    listening to them, sharing to us their struggles and journeys made their spirit uplifted.  And for us, the                Madre    de Amor Hospice people are already happy especially when we see them smile.  It means a lot to      us who are supporting them through our program and services, the hospice and palliative care.  And the          donors who are untiringly supporting our advocacy, our thank you.  For these months, we were able to do        the following:

  • We contniously visited our patients in the privacy of their home, current and previously enrolled to our foundation to check on their health status.  Our doctor consulted them via online method and there is also an in person visit.
  • We provided basic counseling and continously taught the family on the bedside care especially for bedridden patients.
  • We continously provide medicines, vitamins, supplies like diaper, underpads, alcohol and even face masks.
  • We also provided them rice, food and milk
  • For the still ambulatory patients ( the day care patients), we gave session via powerpoint presentation on Good Grooming and Proper Hygiene; activities like role playing  so they may learn somthing which they can apply to their daily lives.  Another  activity was the cupcake frosting which they enjoyed a lot.  The good thing here is they gave their best to decorate the cupcakes and even tho' some find it difficult doing it, still they love and enjoyed the activity. A Spiritual care was also conducted as part of uplifting spirits and an Oral care facilitated by group of dentists.
  • A daycare patient was gifted a cake on her birthday month, which candles was blown during the day care session.  She was touched as we remember her birthday.
  • For the pediatric hospice and palliative care (children with cerebral palsy), we had a session with their mother on lanyard making that might give them interest to do it on their own that can be a source of even a small income that will help in their daily needs. We let them share about their days with the children.  Some said, they play with their child, some with the child's cousin.
  • We gave them diaper, milk, and brought them home via free rides.
  • We provide oxygen and nebulizer to patient

We wish to thank our kindhearted donors here, for helping us continue our services to provide quality and holistice community based hospice and palliative care to patients and their families facing serious illness.  We will continue  it as long as there are disadvantaged patients.  The family are very grateful on the assistance/ help that we provide.  As we said in our previous report, your donation will really make a diffrence in the lives of our patients.
