Today, the majority of people in Lebanon live in poverty (more than 55% of the total population) and unable to access even primary healthcare services. However, the numerous crisis that have been taking place in the country since late 2019 have triggered a dramatic increase in chronic and mental health disorders. This project will, thus, provide at least 1,000 beneficiaries with free medical examinations and medicine, vaccines, medical equipment etc. It will be life saving for many in Lebanon!
The majority of people in Lebanon are suffering due to a massive economic collapse of the country, unprecedented inflation, rising unemployment etc. The situation was made even worse by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Beirut Port explosion in August 2020. Additionally, the health care sector is fragmented, the majority of hospitals are private and the public health systems are under resourced. Many essential medications are not available and the country's pharmaceutical production is very limited.
Through an integrated and innovative approach Insan provides: 1) medical doctors to examine, diagnose, prescribe, and follow up with patients, 2) medications (for chronic and acute diseases), vaccines, medical equipment etc. The medications we offer are based on the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) drug list (please see the additional document), 3) awareness raising to make people conscious about the impact of diseases on their health.
This project will provide medical care and education which empowers vulnerable communities in Lebanon to improve their overall health and wellbeing. This project will help to better manage chronic diseases and promote healthy lifestyles among the communities, as well as lower costs for Lebanon's overburdened health system.
This project has provided additional documentation in a DOCX file (projdoc.docx).
