Recentlty, the president of Lebanon said that the number of Syrian refugees present in the country exceeded half the number of Lebanese residents. In the place where there are the largest groups of refugees, the water is low and the electricity is only public land, so it is for a few hours a day and then the darkness!
The world work to which refugees access is dominated by sanctuary employment, without any rights and with the constant risk of being unpaid. It is therefore a challenge so much to food and health expenditure: people often have to choose between a meal, a medicine and invoices.
In the face of this emergency, here is what write us our local contacts from “Oui pour la vie, the volunteer association that coordinates the project and who has been working for the poorest for several years:
“From August 2017 Oui pour la vie’s kitchen is open four days a week and a second group of 30 families have access to the canteen. The number of beneficiaries has therefore doubled and currently the kitchen offers 300 meals a day, which multiplied by 16 days for opening month, correspond to 4800 meal/ month. Although costs have also increased (each day of cooking costs around € 530, totaling € 8.503/month), we are really happy to be able to guarantee at least one day and nurturing the increasing number of people. We submit us to the sensibility and generosity of all to be able to carry on this beautiful and providential project. The kitchen is becoming more and more a meeting place among women of different groups, thus helping sharing and mutual assistance".
Special thanks to all our donors: the things to do are many, but together we can really improve these people's lives step by step!
Aleimar with Oui Pour la Vie continue to provide nutritionally balanced meals to Syrian and Iraqi refugees (present in the coastal and inland areas around Damour) and to poor lebanese families that live in the city.
As reported by our project leader Miriam and Laura, for health reasons, it was necessary to purchase a new set of tapperware for the distribution of meals for all families who benefit from a canteen service and a water storage tank, given the region's severe drought. In this way, their water reserve will facilitate the proper conduct of the activities related to the canteen.
In addition, the big news is that GlobalGiving, aware of the urgency of finding a remedy for the refugee situation in Lebanon, has approved a $ 10,650.00 funding for the project "Meals for All". Special thanks also goes to our donors who supported the project during the World Refugee Day Compaig, allowing many hot meals to Syrian and Iraqi refugees.
In the face of a growing number of Syrian refugees and refugee camps in difficulty, we hope we can continue to provide primitive needs to children and families in extreme distress.

The last 5th April attack in Siria worsened the already terrible situation is living the country. The project “Meals for All”, through the meals distribution to families in need, refugees and immigrants, is bringing an extremely important help towards these people as well as giving hope to the most vulnerable, the children.
The Oui pour la vie team is working hard every day to answer to project beneficiaries necessities and generates improvement, considering that the families are increasing and the demand raises with them. The next monitoring trip is scheduled for this summer, where our project managers will go on site to check the situation and the work done by Oui pour la vie volunteers.
