Maya, the Musical receives standing ovation!

By Lavanya M | National Development Associate

On the opening weekend, Maya, the Musical received standing ovation. Almost all our shows were sold out and were attended by people from all walks of life.

Here are a few testimonials of people who attended the show :

It was simply fantastic! What an amazing production and achievement! The kids were so good, as were the sets and costumes! And the short film in the end was really nice was to end the evening. What an achievement! congratulations! You have created a glow in our lives through this!

Vikram Bhalla, Senior Partner and Director, Boston Consulting Group

I was absolutely blown away by ‘Maya the Musical’ this weekend. The production exceeded my (already high) expectations in every possible way, and it was really moving to see what that very talented group of children was able to accomplish.
Jyothi Vynatheya Oberoi, Dalberg - Global Development Advisors

This event was a testimony of the faith of Teach for India in what it does, and the eternal hope that all children will one day receive their due equitable share.

Malini Nair, Assistant General Manager - Human Resources & Administration

We are all so moved and feel so privileged to have shared this morning with Shaheen and  entire team and especially your gorgeous gorgeous children. It was magic...Thank you all for the wonderful light you have filled us with.
Roo Jhala and Liam McLaughlin, Tambourine Theatre

Amazing and poignant! Kudos to the entire team!!

Sangita Jindal, Chairperson, JSW Foundation

It was the best show I have seen in India performed by children.  If I had not known, there is no way I would have believed that these children come from underprivileged backgrounds.  Their accents, their English, their dancing (especially Taksh) – were just superb!  The costumes were fantastic, and the dancing was extremely synchronized, well-choreographed and cleanly executed.  The kids played so many roles and just sparkled with energy.  While I loved the antics of Indigo and the monkeys dancing, my absolute favorite was Skaa.  That girl was fantastic – she was in role the entire time – even as she “slept” in the second act. I have always admired “Teach For India” from afar, but after this show, I feel humbled by the children and teachers’ dedication to teaching them and enriching their lives.

Director of Supply Chain Planning at On Semiconductor, USA

As we gear up for the upcoming shows, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support!
