Quarterly Report-6: Maternal And Child Health In Bangladesh Slums (#64561) of Bangladesh

As part of the project’s ongoing and continuous activities, this is the 6th quarterly report submitted under the initiative. Families living in unsanitary conditions in the urban slums of Bangladesh face severe health risks every day, particularly pregnant women, newborns, and young children. Limited access to healthcare services, poor nutrition, and lack of awareness about maternal and child health continue to make their lives vulnerable and uncertain.

To address these challenges, Global Community Organization, in partnership with the international organization GlobalGiving Foundation Inc., has launched an initiative focused on improving the health and well-being of mothers and children living in slum communities.

The project aims to promote a healthier and more sustainable life for vulnerable families through healthcare support, nutritional assistance, and community awareness activities.

Key Activities Implemented During the Reporting Period

Under this initiative, the following support has been provided:

  • Free health check-ups for pregnant women, newborns, and children

  • Essential medical care and health monitoring

  • Distribution of nutritious food and nutritional support packages

  • Health awareness workshops and counseling sessions for mothers and caregivers

  • Guidance on maternal care, child nutrition, hygiene, and preventive healthcare

The project also benefits from the active involvement of volunteer doctors and nutritionists, helping ensure quality healthcare services and proper nutritional guidance for the beneficiaries.

Quarterly Impact Achieved

So far, 13 families have directly benefited from the program. Among the beneficiaries are:

  • 5 pregnant women

  • 8 mothers of newborns and young children

  • 8 children receiving regular nutritional and medical support

Through regular health monitoring, nutritional assistance, and awareness activities, participating families are becoming more informed about maternal and child healthcare practices. The support provided is helping reduce health risks and improve the overall well-being of mothers and children living in vulnerable conditions.

Plans for the Next Quarter

The project plans to expand its activities in the future so that more vulnerable families living in urban slums can receive healthcare and nutritional support. Continued support and collaboration will help strengthen community health awareness and contribute to improving the long-term health conditions of women and children in underserved communities.

Global Community Organization remains committed to working toward a healthier and safer future for disadvantaged mothers and children across Bangladesh.
