Families living in unsanitary conditions in urban slums of Bangladesh face various health risks every day, especially the lives of pregnant women and children. Lack of proper medical care and nutrition makes their lives more difficult and uncertain.
To improve this situation, Global Community Organization, in collaboration with the international organization GlobalGiving Foundation Inc, has taken up a new initiative. The project aims to ensure a sustainable and healthy life for mothers and children in slums through healthcare, nutrition and awareness raising.
Under this project, free health check-ups, necessary medical care, and nutritious food are being distributed to pregnant mothers and newborns. In addition, workshops and counseling sessions are being organized to increase health awareness, so that the long-term well-being of both mothers and children can be ensured.
So far, 9 families have been directly benefited from this program. Among the beneficiaries are 3 pregnant women, 6 mothers of newborns and 6 children, who are receiving regular nutritional and medical support. The quality of service has also been ensured with the active participation of volunteer doctors and nutritionists.
The project is planning to expand to a wider scale in the future, so that more families can be included. If this effort continues, it will be possible to greatly improve the health conditions of vulnerable children and women in the slums.
