We celebrated some good news that we were able to recieve a R20,000 (ZAR) cheque towards the project this week and it is so positive to see that others are starting to believe in the necessity of this project!
The girls at our youth centre have been excited at the mere idea of having this become a reality. We were able to put up a pole for some photos to illustrate where the court is planned and of course even this created A LOT of excitement! As you can all see..!
What we know of course is that physical activity is vital to the holistic development of young people on a physical, social and emotional level! The value of the educational benefits of sport should not be underestimated!
And in terms of self-esteem and self-image building we could see this first hand recently when we had a team of 8 youngters compete in the prestigious Iron Kids even here in Port Elizabeth!
Seeing them standing proud with their medals just goes to show the sporting excellence that could be worked towards should these kids be given the space and resources to practice with...and a court to benefit both the girls and boys of the youth centre would serve exactly that purpose!
Help us get this funding to fill a huge need for us in the service delivery of these young people! Share, tweet, re-post and give if you can...it'll all make a tremendous difference!
