I wanted to update the supporters of this project that we still reaching for the stars and hoping to make dreams come true in the form of the sports facilities we desperately need for the children at our youth centre!
We are now going back into the season where we want to start getting our children fighting fit and practicing for the new year which sees events like the annual Iron Kids initiative come to Port Elizabeth,
I was struck by one girl recently who was asked if she could change one things at the centre what would it be - her response - I wish we had a pool!
However most of the children who come to our centre cannot swim at first and therefore have a fear of water. Our centre is isolated form many amenities due to our location which also presents us with high fuel expenses. Of course living by the coast it means children can visit the beach but of course they cannot learn to swim there!
Our vision is clear - we want to be able to have a swimming pool at our centre, where children can overcome their fear and learn this essential school, where we can have sports coaches helping to truly guide our children to do well in the water, where we can make this a regular supervised recreational activity AND even utilize our young adults in terms of training them to recieve life guiarding qualifications!
This is the first part of our dream we would like to become a reality and if you are reading this and know of any way to make this happen please support if you can!
