We recently celebrated the Day of Reconciliation here in South Africa, a public holiday held annually on 16th December with the intention of fostering reconciliation and national unity for the country.
And we must still remember the power of sport to unite. The Rugby World Cup Final in 1995, won by South Africa in Nelson Mandela's first full year as President, is often held up as a shining image of the power of sport to bring about the most remarkable reconciliation.
Sport may not be able to heal all the deap wounds in the past but it can bring everyone a little closer together.
This is why it is so important to invest in sporting opportunities for our young people.
The picture in this report is of the KFC Mini Cricket Festival that we hosted on the grounds of our youth centre. Our #maranatha children all coming together. It is such a lovely snap shot of a sporting event being able to bring our boys, girls, young people and adults together in harmony.
And the great news is we are heading towards our goal! Having had Iron Man 4 The Kidz South Africa put an amount towards our swimming pool project we have now revised our budget knowing that if we take it one step at a time we can see the realisation of ALL these sporting facilities come the end of 2019!
But without your help it will not be possible...!
