It is an exciting time in terms of sports in South Africa where the first names of team members to compete at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires taking place next month were announced…!
Team South Africa will be represented in 19 different sports codes for these third Youth Olympic Games, incorporating Aquatics, Canoeing, Climbing, Dancing, Equestrian, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
And when there are real life South Africa heroes and heroines like Wayde Van Niekerk and Caster Semenya flying the flags for sporting achievement and excellence we know our young people have a lot to aspire to.
This was where I was so thrilled in our last report to announce the establishment of our sports court but of course we continue to shoot for the moon…!
For this project we now have three clear goals:
What we know clearly is that sport HAS the power to change the world. And off the back of the most recent World Iron Man Championships that actually took place here in Port Elizabeth it is fitting that I can borrow their slogan and end this report by saying: Anything Is Possible…!
