Of course it has been interesting for all of us globally to adapt during this pandemic, but also find new and innovative ways of utilizing virtual resources, relating as much to our work and personal lives as it has to education,
Having also been able to upgrade the technology at our centre this year, we have seen some young people doing amazing things!
During this month I was fortunate to assist one of our school leavers for this year to apply for a social work degree via online distance learning. This year has taught us that from primary to higher education we are able to use what technology we have at our disposal to help our children achieve their goals,
It is also wonderful to see that the Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga has introduced a new curriculum policy document to introduce various new subjects. These are with employment prospects in mind and include agriculture studies, ancillary health care, digital technology, maintenance and retail.
Those of you who have supported us over the years will know that as well as our emphasis on mainstream schooling and education we have also walked the path with young people in such fields as woodwork & upholstery and hospitality & catering and seen them go onto achieve great things as young adults!
It is just wonderful that with children who may be more non-verbal or practical that further options will now open up for them from a younger age,
However of course now is a critical time in the year. Not only in terms of our on-going efforts to prevent further spread of Covid-19 but also in terms of the preparations needing to be done to have all our kids school ready next month! Even over this Christmas period we have admitted new children on an emergency basis that of course need everything before they can commence the next school year,
Please know that the support you give us really helps dreams come true and see’s our children become young people achieving their goals and reaching for the stars! Anything you can give will be vitally appreciated!
