In rural Haiti, MamaBaby runs two free birth centers, houses 20 orphaned children, operates a free school, and trains midwives. Last year we celebrated 1,239 safe births and 10,984 free prenatal visits. Over our 15-year history, we've trained 50 midwives with a 96% employment rate. We have never closed our doors; through earthquakes, political crisis, and gang violence. Every life here matters: mothers, babies, children, and the women who care for them.
Haiti has the highest maternal mortality rate in the Western Hemisphere. In Lascahobas, women walk miles in labor with no care available, and when something goes wrong, there is often no one to help. Mothers die from entirely preventable causes, leaving children orphaned with nowhere to go and no school to attend. Haiti has only 400 midwives for a need of 2,200; a workforce gap that leaves communities without anyone trained to save a mother's life.
Every morning, women wait at MamaBaby's gates for care they cannot find anywhere else. In 2025 we delivered 1,239 babies, free of charge. We house 20 orphaned children and run a free community school. Our midwifery school has trained 50 midwives; 48 practicing across Haiti today. For 15 years, through earthquakes, political crisis, and gang violence, we have never closed our doors. Three pillars. One mission. Your gift keeps every door open.
The children in our care will grow up educated, healthy, and rooted in community. The midwives we train will go on to serve thousands of mothers over the course of their careers. The mothers we support today will raise families who know what safe birth looks like, and pass that knowledge forward. Each generation makes the next one stronger and your gift extends that legacy for generations to come.
