In response to the national priorities under the Sustainable Development Goals, Kitovu Mobile continued to support youth through Income generating Activities in their groups. Through the various training and field visits held the youth and the surrounding communities came to acknowledge that farming is a process that can be learnt and improved upon with experience and as a result a gradual attitude change was observed.

443 (112f, 331m) youth from the targeted areas received support visits twice during this reporting period. It was observed that majority of the youth had engaged themselves in growing  passion fruits, maize, beans, ground nuts, vegetables and coffee. It was observed that income from the sale of their produce ranged between, $ 20 to $ 600 per season.

With their incomes they had struggled to acquire some assets, for instance 6 trainees bought cows, 11 bicycles, 5 building materials, 18 piggery, 11 coffee nurseries, 18 bicycles, 5 engaged in making chips. This applied to youths who had spent four to three years on the project.  65% of the youth who had joined the groups for only one year were able to meet their personal requirements.

On a similar development, it was observed that the youth did not only grow in terms of assets and incomes but their quality of life generally had improved.

In conclusion we acknowledge all the support from friends and well wishers behind this great work. Without your support we are handicapped and majority of this category is likely to suffer the most. “Together we can”
