Greetings from BREADS Bangalore!

Over the past six months, we have positively impacted the lives of 125 disadvantaged girls, bringing smiles to their faces by ensuring they receive quality education instead of facing a future of household chores, child labor, child marriage, or dropping out of school. The support from various donors through the GlobalGiving platform has been a blessing for these underprivileged girls, enabling them to continue their education and excel both academically and personally.

During this period, the assistance provided to these girls included covering school fees, educational materials, nutritious food, and medical care. All 125 girls supported by GlobalGiving sponsors have benefited from this aid.

Since schools reopened in June 2024, we are happy to report that all the girls performed exceptionally well in their annual examinations/assessments and have been promoted to higher classes.  Thanks to the generosity and support, dear sponsors, as we have received an additional USD 593.46 from GlobalGiving during this reporting period. These funds have been fully allocated to the education of 125 disadvantaged children, covering school fees, uniforms, educational materials, and nutritious meals. These children live in vulnerable conditions, including those prone to child labor, child marriage, victims of child abuse, and those from broken families, single-parent households, or are orphans. In addition to the support from GlobalGiving sponsors, we have mobilized resources through local fundraising strategies.

 The most vulnerable children are staying at Don Bosco Care Institutions and continue their education there, while others receive direct education sponsorships. The children benefiting from GlobalGiving’s educational support have expressed their appreciation for another year of schooling and the learning experiences that have boosted their confidence and self-esteem.

 BREADS has organized various programs to enhance their life skills, nurture teamwork values, and improve interpersonal relationships. Over the past six months, 17 girls from vulnerable situations were rescued and either reunited with their families or placed in institutional care if they were orphans or from dysfunctional families. Some were admitted to Don Bosco Care Centers, where they received short-term bridge education (remedial education) before being enrolled in our schools to continue their formal education.

 We maintain regular contact with the children through our Don Bosco/BREADS staff to ensure their ongoing attendance at school and to improve their educational standards. They are encouraged to participate in evening tuition classes established in their villages by BREADS, using these facilities to enhance their educational performance and complete their school assignments with the guidance of mentors.

 The children, along with BREADS and the local Don Bosco Centers, express our deepest gratitude to all our donors and GlobalGiving for their unwavering support and guidance. With great joy, we share our latest report regarding the education support we have received from generous donors through the GlobalGiving Platform. Presently, 125 underprivileged girl children are continuing their education with the invaluable support provided by all of you. These children are diligently working towards their academic growth and currently preparing for the final examinations. Many Don Bosco Care Centres have been providing guided classes, and special coaching, particularly for those preparing for their Class X examinations.

Thanks to your generosity, we have received a total of USD 387 from various donors through GlobalGiving. These funds have been fully allocated to the education of 125 disadvantaged children, covering essential expenses such as school fees, uniforms, educational materials, and nutritious meals. These children hail from vulnerable backgrounds, including those susceptible to child labour, child marriage, child abuse, as well as those from broken families, single-parent households, and orphaned situations.

The children receiving educational support through GlobalGiving have expressed deep appreciation for another year of school life and the learning experience which has boosted their confidence and self-esteem. In line with our tradition, BREADS has organized a range of programs to enhance their life skills, foster values of teamwork, and improve interpersonal relationships.

This year, we have also rescued over 75 children from vulnerable situations, providing them with short-term bridge education (remedial education) and subsequently either admitted them to our rehabilitation centres or reunited them with their families to continue their formal education. The sponsorship support plays an important role in both the education and rehabilitation of these children.

In order to ensure regular school attendance, we have been maintaining regular contacts with the children through our Don Bosco/ BREADS staff. Additionally, we are encouraging children to participate in evening tuition classes set up in their villages by BREADS. These sessions serve as valuable opportunities for enhancing academic performance and completing school assignments under the mentorship of skilled educators.
