Challenge

According SOS Senegal's surveys, Senegal has 30 000 orphans representing 31.5% of the young population. Among the social strata most affected by poverty, children orphans are the weakest victims exposed to tough social difficulties. Orphans targeted in this project are suffering from concerns such as: school dropout, sexual abuse, child labor, lack of food and health and inability to pay for school supplies.

Solution

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the World": said Nelson Mandela. Strongly believing in this Mandela's powerful thought, Association Jeunesse Espoir has chosen to effectively help girl orphans by: maintaining them in school, offering health care coverage, follow-up and psychological support guaranteeing a good academic performance.

Long-Term Impact

The project will enable 50 girl orphans in Saint-Louis of Senegal to have access to health care and education. This assistance will fight the inequity and discrimination faced by girl orphans and will put them in the right conditions to succeed in securing a brighter future and paving their way out of poverty.
