VIDA is excited to announce that Peru's Ministry of Health has entered into a partnership with VIDA to facilitate the customs clearance and in country distribution of  medical equipment and medical supplies to the communities devestated by the floods.  This partnership is reducing the international shipping costs by 40% and will eliminate all costs for shipping inside Peru. This means that your support will help more people than ever before.  This develoment along with the increase in donations from hospitals accross California will enable VIDA to ship a record number of containers to Peru in 2018. This is a very important development as the cost of transporting aid to the Sacred Valley, Cuzco as well as other locations not near a port is very high and limits VIDA's capacity to send more aid. As this report is being written, there are two containers currently in Peruvian customs and another container is on the water.   Thank you for your continued generosity!

Hospital Beds Give Dignity to Peruvians

VIDA thanks GlobalGiving donors for your support! VIDA has just sent two containers carrying nearly $1million in aid in response to the 2017 tragic floods and ongoing healthcare needs in Peru. As reported in previous reports, 300 plus hospitals/clinics were destroyed and the infrastructure remain damaged - roads and bridges washed out and entire communities swept clean and millions still lack access to healthcare.

VIDA is working with our partners and the government to help rebuild the healthcare infrastructure.   The government is donating warehouse space and dedicating transportation resources to transport the aid to the impacted communities and we are ramping up our efforts.  Hospital beds, exam tables and ambulatory supplies is critical to get these hospitals back up and running.

To that end, VIDA’s last two containers have focused on these items, carrying 62 beds, 24 gurneys and 26 exam tables and topped off with walkers, wheelchairs, and crutches as well as a sundry of medical supplies.

We are in the process of securing funding for the next containers and appreciate the support of the Global Giving community!

VIDA thanks GlobalGiving donors for your support! The VIDA team returned from Peru and was able to help unload three shipments.  These three shipments will be benefitting the flood victims throughout Peru. VIDA has made a total of nine shipments (ocean and air) carrying nearly $10 million in aid. The VIDA team was able to visit a couple of the regions and needless to say it was tragic.  800,000 homeless, 300 plus hospitals/clinics destroyed and the infrastructure is devastated - roads and bridges washed out and entire communities swept clean.

VIDA is working with our partners and the government to help rebuild the healthcare infrastructure.   The government is dedicating transportation resources to transport the aid to the impacted communities and we are ramping up our efforts.

To that end, VIDA would be making 12 additonal shipments by sea and air to Peru over the next 12 weeks.  To that end, we are excited to announce that 3 containers will be leaving the VIDA warehouse over the next three weeks carrying millions of dollars in aid!

We are in the process of securing funding for the next 9 containers and appreciate the support of the GlobalGiving community!
