Thanks to donors like you, we have shipped books to all of the children at our daycare partners, and enrolled families in an entire year of eBooks, read-along video books and tips to teach early reading and language skills via weekly emails and text-messages.
We  have also welcomed a new partner; Rena Day Care Center in Harlem! All 160 children at this site now have the resources they need to build their home libraries and longterm reading ability.
We are grateful for the opportunity to build home libraries with modern classics: Giraffes Can't Dance; Chicka Chicka Boom; Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus; and more!
Hundreds of our children are raised in Spanish-speaking homes and will receive spanish text messages and bilingual versions of classic titles: A Color of His Own; A Very Hungry Caterpillar; Brown Bear, Brown Bear; and more!
Thank you for giving our children the preschool vocabulary they need to succeed through high school graduation.

Thanks to donors like you, we have officially started 2018 - 2019 programming with our partnering daycares in NYC.
The first step?
Daycare providers are currently choosing the books they want for their kids! Our hard cover, board book and bilingual options all teach sight words, rhyme and other important early literacy skills.
Because of you, parents are taking home hardcover classics including Green Eggs and Ham, Fox in Socks, Hop on Pop and Go Dog Go! Spanish-speaking families will receive English-Spanish dual language versions of classic titles: A Color of His OwnCurious George and Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?
Once book selections are made, we ship every daycare "Parent Enrollment Forms" to subscribe families to an entire year of weekly emails and text messages - proven to increase parent reading engagement and childhood literacy scores.

Because of donors like you, we will be launching our fourth year of programming this summer - building home libraries and empowering parents to teach vocabulary every day from birth - regardless of limited time, money and other socioeconomic barriers.

Throughout 2017 and 2018, you have made it possible for the parents of every child we serve to enjoy an entire year of weekly literacy emails and text messages.

All year, Word Rebel parents received three weekly text messages through our partner, Ready4K. This evidence-based program sent quick tips to teach literacy skills in just five minutes a day. It is proven to increase parent reading engagement, childhood vocabulary and early reading skills.

Every week, Word Rebel parents also received two weekly emails containing a downloadable PDF book, read-along video, questions to ask while reading, daily sight words and quick tips to teach vocabulary during daily routines!

Thanks to you, 1,500 at-risk children will start preschool with the vocabulary they need to succeed through high school graduation. From everyone at Word Rebel, thank you for making equal opportunity a reality. We appreciate all you have done to support our cause.

Because of donors like you, we have raised a total of $7,000 in 2017 to launch another year of early childhood literacy programming. 2018 will be our fourth year building home libraries and empowering parents to teach vocabulary every day from birth – regardless of limited time, money and other socioeconomic barriers.

Our programs address one simple reality: The most accurate predictor of whether or not a child will graduate from high school is the number of words they know in preschool. To fight the cycle of poverty at its source, we serve children from infancy to four years old living in poverty in NYC.

You have made it possible for every child we serve to take home a brand new book in 2018 and their parents to receive an entire year of weekly literacy emails, evidence-based text messages and eBooks - proven to increase parent reading engagement and child reading skills. Moreover, we are on track to have 2018 be our first year to donate not just one but two books to every child we serve. Thanks to you, 1,500 at-risk children will start preschool with the vocabulary they need to succeed through high school graduation.

From everyone at Word Rebel, thank you for making equal opportunity a reality. We appreciate all you have done to support our cause.

To reach the highest need children in New York City, we have partnered with 3 new daycares in the South Bronx. For the first time, 200 children living in the Bronx River Housing community took home free books to build home libraries. Their parents are now receiving an entire year of weekly text messages and emails containing eBooks and literacy tips proven to increase early childhood vocabulary.

I am particularly excited to partner with these daycares because they are located just a few blocks from where I once taught middle school students with learning disabilities. Why is this so important to me? While teaching, I noticed that 9 of 10 students did not have an actual reading disability; they had a reading deficit. They read 4 - 6 years below grade level solely because of their limited vocabularies. I began researching the most effective vocabulary interventions, but found that preschool was too late; No school-age (K - 12) intervention had ever successfully closed the vocabulary gap. I decided to reach children before they had experienced years of failure and disability misclassification. I founded Word Rebel to empower parents to prioritize vocabulary instruction before prechool - despite limited time, money and other socioeconomic barriers.

In 8 short years, the 200 children in the Bronx River Housing community will start middle school. Thank you for helping these children learn the preschool vocabulary that will determine their reading ability from kindergarten through high school graduation.

We cannot thank you enough for making it all possible.
