We continue to implement regular activities with the Tharu communities in Dang and are encouraged by the progress in the communities with women groups. Progress is made possible through your contribution.
Women Groups
Community Cooperative trainings
Language Development Centre Nepal and its local partner NGO in Dang, Help Society Nepal continues working with 7 Women Groups with 250 direct beneficiaries. These groups are working together to continue literacy, livelihoods and community development activities.
In response to a request by the community group we organized a three day Saving and Credit management training for 59 women from seven women groups. These members will then act as a local resource person to train the other group members. This training has helped the participants to understand the importance of saving and credit cooperative activities, its functions, structure, financial transactions and procedures. Mr. Homlal Bhusal, Cooperative Development Officer (District Cooperative Development Office) worked as a trainer for this training.
Challenges
Training participants and women community group members need more training and supports to understand about saving and credit procedure and its management. We are planning to support these groups to enable them to register with the District Cooperative Board to start their cooperative officially and access further resources that are only available to groups registered with the local government.
Thank you for your continued support to these Tharu communities in Nepal. Please continue to check our website, http://www.ldcnepal.org/ for updates on our progress, and share the link with friends and family.
