This project will provide 20 Solar Street Lights to 250 Yanadi Tribal families living around 5 villages in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. They are the most poor & vulnerable due to their socio-economic backwardness & 80% illiteracy. They live in small huts/thatched houses without any light during their struggle for existence in life. They depend on crab/rat/fish catching occupations and labour work and their earnings are very meager. Project helps to overcome from their darkness.
The Yanadi Tribals who are living away from the mainstream are suffering a lot due to lack of minimum basic facilities such as' electricity (power cuts, low voltage), infrastructure, drinking water scarcity and absence of proper dwellings and toilet facility. They are unable to represent for their basic requirements due to their socio-economic backwardness and cultural beliefs and practices. The situation of women & their children are more vulnerable due to their ignorance & illiteracy.
This project will helps to install 20 solar street lights in 6 Yanadi tribal habitations to overcome from their existing darkness and to pave the way for enlightening the people by using this facility as an opportunity and a common platform to initiative actions for their problems and needs. Women, children and youth were organized and motivated to look in to their problems and find the solutions with collective initiatives and action.
Accessibility to natural light from darkness in the habitations. Tribal women and children assembled together for analyzing their situations and act collectively against its root causes. Quality of life and their life style improved. Realized the need for availing the latest facilities by using and adapting the technologies. Others will recognize the significance of renewable energy sources by using solar technologies. Attitudinal changes among the community members. Literacy rate improved.
