Supporting young people in their development and search for careers is essential to build a stable working future and a society with opportunities for all. With your help, Fundacion Sembrar will support 200 vulnerable young people from Pisuli and La Roldos (marginal urban neighborhoods in the northwest of Quito) to discover their skills and interests, train professionally and get a decent job for themselves and their families.
The marginal neighborhoods of the city of Quito have high rates of violence, exclusion, and few opportunities for development; many young people choose not to continue studying in order to contribute to the family economy. Insufficient training and scarce job opportunities have increased unemployment rates by 3.8% and underemployment by 20.8%, especially among young people.
Focused on the methodology of life skills development, the program seeks to improve the quality of life of vulnerable and at-risk young people through vocational and professional orientation courses; theoretical and practical training in the fields of gastronomy, information technology and automotive mechanics in alliance with universities and institutes of higher education and local companies; and to promote their insertion into the labor market.
Youth is an important factor in the development of society. The young people who already participate in our program show skills that allow them to find work or have real expectations for the future. In 2022 alone, out of 123 young people who participated in the vocational orientation program; 34 participated in vocational training schools and 24 found a decent job. With your support, we will build a more inclusive society with opportunities for all.
