Dear friends,
Thank you for your generous donation towards the 2019 March accelerator fundraiser for the “Lifesaving Sanitation Project for the Grace Orphanage”, having raised over $5000 USD through the accelerator of March it has earned us a permanent membership with GlobalGiving Community. And we have deducted all the fundraising from the platform towards development and sustainability of Grace Orphanage.
Grace orphanage is a rural school in the heart of Uganda providing formal education to orphans and less privileged children affected and infected by HIV AIDS. The school was founded in 1996 by women affected by HIV/AIDS to educate the increased number of orphans within their community. It’s unfortunate that most of these courageous and brave women have passed on, but we wish to maintain their legacy and keep their efforts alive through supporting the orphanage to attain sustainability.
The disbursement receive has been allocated towards three major pressing challenges at the orphanage which include,
Long drop toilets and menstruation hygiene washroom.
The work is 60% complete and we believe that in the next two to three months it will be in use.
A lintel beam reinforcement and new roof instalment.
The classroom block has been reinforced with a lintel beam to strengthen it, since it was weakened by the linkage of the roof during the rainy season, which has been not a safe learning environment for the children. 70% of the work is done and installation of a new roof is complete.
Water drilling.
It’s a rainy season here and we have been advised to start drilling a water well during sunny season in order to have a right water table level. This means that the well won’t dry if it’s drilled during the right water table level.
