Hurricane Harvey has made landfall near Rockport, TX and is causing widespread damage along the Gulf Coast. This fund will provide relief to survivors in the form of emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine in addition to longer-term recovery assistance to help residents recover and rebuild. Many refugees from the Houston, TX area flee to Lufkin, TX to escape the storm area. All donations to this fund will exclusively support local relief and recovery efforts from this storm.
Hurricane Harvey has made landfall with winds gusts of 130 mph. A number of buildings have been destroyed and there is an ongoing risk of flooding, with forecasts predicting 35 inches of rain in some areas. We are ready to respond to survivors' immediate needs and will help fund their relief and recovery efforts on the ground. Lufkin, TX is always a place of refuge for those on the Texas Coasts to flee until weather permits their return. Many have no home to return to. We want to help.
All donations to this fund will support recovery and relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey. Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts.
Legacy Institute is deeply rooted in the Lufkin and Houston communites. We are an educational organization who teaches students how to grow the resources they've been blessed with for the purpose of being charitable. These funds would enable us to provide long-term support to those in need as a result of Hurricane Harvey. We will work with other organizations who share this common goal to have the greatest impact on the greatest possible number of people.
