This project creates libraries stocked with recreational reading books and encyclopedias for 28 orphanages that serve approximately 4,000 orphans and vulnerable children living in India, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Philippines, and Mexico. Just $600 can provide a library for one orphanage. So far, through the Global Giving Campaign, we have raised almost enough funds to provide one orphanage with recreational reading books and an encyclopedia set.
The photos in this report show reading books we have purchased and children enjoying them in the eight orphanages that have already been provided a library by World’s Children.
Soumya who lives in an orphanage for children affected by HIV/AIDS writes about their new library:
I am very happy about having a library for us. We are enjoying reading the books. The books have nice stories. They are interesting. We are reading every day. I like stories. Thanks for giving us a library. Lovingly, Soumya 10th Class
We will continue to raise funds so that each of these 28 orphanages can have a library stocked with books to inspire the children with the love of learning and the joy of reading. As donations permit, we will fund as many libraries as we can by purchasing reading books and encyclopedias in bulk. That way you will know that we are getting the highest return for your donation. We will keep you informed as this project progresses and will share the results as they unfold. Thanks for your support!
