"At the moment we persuade a child, any child, to cross that threshold, that magic threshold into a library, we change their lives forever, for the better." - President Barack Obama
World's Children has now provided libraries stocked with reading books and educational books to 29 orphanages and one school in India. We are happy to report that we met our fundraising goal for GlobalGiving and we are going to end our request for donations for this project at this time.
We thank you and all the kind donors who gave to the World's Children library project. Having access to books is a truly a magic threshold for changing lives. Now more than 4,000 children have recreational books and encyclopedias. In addition to the books, we provided shelves to the orphanages who needed them. The total cost of the project to date is: $24,504.
One of the nice features of this project is that even more children will get to enjoy the library books as the current batch of kids grows up and new children enter the program. We will continue to add books to the libraries over the coming years.
We have planted the seed of the love of books and learning for these children and other children who will follow them.
Our heartfelt thanks go to you and all the donors who made this project possible.
With gratitude,
The World's Children Staff
