Summary

This project aims to provide clean water and improve hygiene in a rural African community by installing a borehole, building handwashing stations, and delivering hygiene education. Over 200 households will benefit from access to safe water and sanitation, reducing waterborne diseases and improving overall well-being. WASH kits will be distributed to families, and training sessions will promote healthy hygiene practices. With $20000 this project will empower communities with sustainable solutions

Challenge

The community currently suffers from a critical lack of access to clean and safe water. Residents rely on distant and often contaminated streams, ponds, or shallow wells that expose them to waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea. Women and children bear the burden of walking long distances daily to fetch water, which affects school attendance and economic activities. The absence of hand washing stations for hygiene also compounds health risks

Solution

This project will directly address the community's water crisis by drilling and installing a clean water borehole, ensuring year-round access to safe drinking water. The borehole will eliminate dependence on unsafe water sources, drastically reducing waterborne illnesses. Handwashing stations will be installed in key areas, promoting hygiene and stop the spread of diseases. Long-Term Impact

This project will create lasting change by improving public health, education, and livelihoods. With access to clean water and sanitation, the community will see a sharp decline in waterborne diseases, leading to lower healthcare costs and improved quality of life. Children, especially girls, will spend more time in school instead of fetching water. Women will gain time to engage in income generating activities strengthening household economies, hygiene education will foster cleanliness.
