This project aims to build essential sanitation facilities, including toilets and showers, in the Bidi Bidi refugee camp in Uganda, home to over 300,000 South Sudanese refugees. 80% of them are orphaned children and teenagers whose parents died during the bloody armed conflict in South Sudan. These facilities are crucial to prevent deadly diseases such as typhoid and to improve the overall health and safety of those who have already suffered so much.
Welcome to Bidi Bidi Settlement! Survive without habitats - toilet = safe living conditions Camp located 17 km from the border with South Sudan in Uganda, in the Yumbe district, seems to be forgotten by God.300,000 people live there, over 80% of whom are children and youth who survived the war.In Bidi Bidi, the "Africa Help" build the deep well. It's time to take care of hygiene, the lack of which has led to, among others, to a typhus epidemic in the camp and many dangerous polar diseases.
The "Africa Help" Foundation, together with the Divine Word Missionaries - headed by Andrzej Dzida, decided to build basic sanitary facilities, i.e. several toilets, shower toilets and an excrement disposal system. This is necessary in order not to pollute nearby water sources and prevent the spread of dangerous pathogens. Thanks od that community avoid typhoid, malaria and other diarrheal diseases, witch they suffer from.
Almost 500 people from community in Ariwa can use for that facilities many years. Thanks to the polish Missionaries who take care of the maintenance of the devices, I know that the project will be permanent. We've already bought in February 2025 the first sanitary point in YooYooo Zone in Bidi Bidi Settlement. Now we must rise money for four more!
