SDA, in partnership with Bedari, made strong strides in reintegrating out-of-school girls into secondary education across 10 selected schools in Khushab District. The efforts focused on identifying school dropouts, raising community awareness, and strengthening school-level coordination to facilitate girls’ return to classrooms.
Key Activities and Results:
1. Door-to-Door Outreach (10th – 20th May)
SDA teams visited 123 households in the target communities to identify out-of-school girls and mobilize families.
Out-of-school girls identified: 55
Families agreeing to re-enroll daughters: 51
This proactive outreach created a positive shift in parental attitudes toward girls’ education.
2. Community Engagement Sessions (22nd – 29th May)
Ten sessions were held—one per school/community—with 135 participants, including parents, elders, teachers, and youth.
Themes included:
• Importance of girls’ education
• Risks of early marriage and school dropout
• Overview of the RISE project
Participants responded positively, with many parents pledging support for their daughters’ continued education.
3. Coordination with Schools
SDA met with the heads of all 10 secondary schools to facilitate reintegration planning and ensure institutional support. This strengthened collaboration and commitment among school staff to welcome re-enrolled girls.
Looking Ahead:
Building on the momentum, SDA will begin the next phase of individualized follow-ups with identified families and initiate academic support activities to ensure a smooth transition for returning students.
