LearnLinks delivers after-school tutoring, mentoring and family support to students and families at 4 low-income housing complexes. LearnLinks fosters engagement with learning and educational success.
A significantly higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students and those learning English as a second language score below standard across all subjects. Those who face unstable housing situations face even more challenges. After-school programs can help fill the education gap facing these students and create an environment in which education is more accessible. Greater student and family engagement with education will help build success and break the multigenerational cycle of poverty.
The LearnLinks program delivers after-school help through bi-weekly homework clubs. In addition, we offer trauma-relieving art activities, field trips, family nights and summer day camp opportunities to build family-based connection to education.
LearnLinks serves approximately 130 children in 4 low income housing facilities. LearnLinks helps improve academic performance, build stronger work habits, enhance social skills and improve school attandance.
