Mayama aims to build the best learning center to empower and transform lives of thousands of girls, boys and their families who live in high marginalization and violence conditions in Jalisco, Mexico. In this new space they will have access to learning spaces based on our five development areas, a central courtyard and extensive sites for running and playing. Till the date we have attended more than 543 children, with your help more of them will have access to better education opportunities.
Mayama is currently located in an industrialized neighborhood, with limited space and no green areas, making it difficult for the children's learning process. Children and their families attending to our programs, according to the National Population Council, are 'highly outcast', this is: five or more people living in one room, families earning the minimum wage, lacking of basic services (no water supply), 60% of our children are in risk of child labor, foster homes.
Imagine a place where children who live in extreme poverty and violence have the opportunity to develop their full potential and enjoy a happy childhood. The construction of the New Center is a space of three thousand square meters that will have green areas, a multifunctional room, educational spaces based on our five development areas, a central courtyard and extensive sites for running and playing.
In Mexico, where the rate of violence reaches alarming numbers, human development plays a key role in building a culture where peace, equity, and access to development opportunities and rights are possible for all. With a new Learning Center we will have a place of our own making possible to attend more generations of children and their families continuing our work based on our learning model, trough which we seek to live in a society with positive, constant and sustainable transformation.
