Part 1: GENERAL INFORMATION

Executive summary
2021 was almost as bad as 2020. With our target of providing vocational training to 90 youth from northern Uganda within 2 years continued to be challenged with lockdown due to Covid 19 and only limited enrolment in our training school other than the 20 year civil war that devastated the area we ealier mentioned. The lockdown have contributed positivily to controling the problems of the idle youth, gambling, and prostitution or forming organized groups of street gangs and reduced the ill-actions that were being mated by the youth still prolonging their economic challenges.

From November 2021 onward with our revised change in strategy to a workshop approach to the hands-on skills training we broke-off for festive season with 19 youth attending training in vocational skills education, life skills survival and entrepreneurship. Our enrolment though it did not consider the affirmative action appraoch we have 21% males and 79% females with all being below the age of 30 years. The generous support from our donors of GlobalGiving Foundation, the refugee we enrolled of the South Sudanese origin for our tailoring course among the 20 dropped out of school while the 14 supported under the Women and Youth Resilliance Project (WAYREP) of CARE International on apprenhentership to women, girls and youth in the different skills set like tailoring, hairdressing, construction and motor mechanic being financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation is ongoing.

Under the current workshop appraoch, no tuition or any other fees is being paid by the parents of the trainees except for the five privately sponsorered trainees who are even unable to pay the little they should.

Work progress

Our Learn to Earn! Trades school training project has not lost track but is being delayed by the Covid-19 lockdown as schooling time is lost but we continue to follow our trainees.

The Third Micro project No: 53911 named Solar powered trades training received only three donation and was retired on 2021/12/06 though the report on this was late the need to maintain the project live is very high.

The 14 trainees in the first lot attending a workshop-schoolbased like  vocational skills training sponsored by CARE International, financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation resume studies on 3rd January 2022 together with the other five privately sponosred trainees. These first lot will complete studies in February 2022 and hopefully the new lot for the same WAYREP project will be absorbed.

Out of the 20 youth that were sent home in March 2021 because of Covid 19 only five of them returned on 2021/11/15.

COVID Relief and Micro project

The Solar Power Trades Training microproject ubmitted in September 2021 and has not been fully supported and retired.

Donations disbursements and uses of the funds received:

During the reporting period we received 6 donations amounting to USD193.38 majorly from our 2 monthly donors. we participated in the Tuesday Giving of 30th November 2021 without receiving any donation and also end of year but have not received funding too.

We received USD275.07 disbursed to our Ugandan shillings account on 2021/23/12 which have not been utilsed.

There is work in progress for a metallic shelve as a storage facility for the refubrished tools and equipment delivered to our school from TWAM hrough your donations on GlobalGiving.

Governance

No changes in the management structure has so far been made though a planned Board meeting is schedlued for March 2022.

There are three volunteer staff working on a part-time basis implementing our Right2Grow project in Nwoya dsitirct. The project is being supported by the Movement for Community led- Development with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands government.

Acheivements

Out of the 12 females taking our tailoring course 8 were able to earn the equivalent of USD34$ during the month of November and December 2021 as their friends and familes entrusted them with fabrics to make Kitenge (local) African dress for their children and friends. They now all have stories to tell and be proud of.

The only motor cycle mechanic trainee is now in his scecond month attached to  a Garage for more practicals than at school and is happy and ready to write a story after February 2022 before he complete in March 2022.

Enrolment for 2022

We plan to enrol 6 trainees for electrical instalation; 20 trainees for taloring, 6 for building and construction practice, 5 for motorcycle mechanic, 10 for hairdressing and beauty, 5 for catering and hotel management and 5 for welding and metal fabrication to begin training on 10/01/2022.
