Launch 150 Startup Youth Businesses in Kibra Slum

Kibera and Homa Bay are regions in Kenya known for their vibrant but economically disadvantaged communities. Unemployment rates among youth in these areas have been persistently high, leading to various social and economic challenges. The Garden of Hope Foundation recognized the need to address this issue by nurturing entrepreneurship and providing a platform for young minds to flourish.

Meet Mary, a young entrepreneur from Kibera. Mary always dreamed of starting a bakery that would not only provide delicious pastries but also create job opportunities for her community. With the support of the Garden of Hope Foundation, Mary attended entrepreneurship workshops, received guidance from her mentor, and secured seed funding to open her bakery. Today, Mary's bakery employs five local residents, and her delicious pastries have become a hit in Kibera. Mary's success story is just one of many that demonstrate the transformative power of empowering youth entrepreneurs. 

Through this project, we have successfully supported 125  youth in Kibera and Homa Bay to launch their startups. The impact has been far-reaching, with new businesses emerging, job opportunities being created, and a sense of hope and self-reliance instilled in the youth. These young entrepreneurs are not only contributing to their own financial stability but also playing a crucial role in the economic development of their communities.
