Elizabeth joined Garden of Hope Foundation in 2016 after graduating from high school. A first born in a family of six, her parents were not able to take to her to college or university after graduating. Her parents earn about $ 5 a day combined.
She was introduced to Garden of Hope Foundation by a friend who had gone through our leadership development and entrepreneurship program. This program equip high school graduates and youth who have dropped out of school with leadership and entrepreneurship skills.
Elizabeth applied to join the program and we accepted her, during her time with us she proved not only to be disciplined, but hardworking. She did not have any entrepreneurship or computer skills when she joined the program. Through her hard work, she managed to only top the class, but also start a small business with skills she had received.
For her to get more skills, Elizabeth applied to join our volunteer and internship program to be one of computer tutors. Since she graduated in 2017, Elizabeth has trained more than 50 youth equipping them with computer skills, she has also equipped 20 youth with entrepreneurship and leadership skills.
Elizabeth is set to join college next year January, she will pursue a degree in Tourism and Hospitality. There are over 50 girls like Elizabeth who are currently waiting to join our leadership development and entrepreneurship program. You can support them by donating $ 30. This will allow them to go through the entire program. Most women and girls from urban slums are not able to continue with their education due to various factors like early marriage, female genital mutilation.
Thank you for your support.
