Lambi Fund of Haiti has been supporting the construction efforts of multiple irrigation canals spanning more than 100 meters. Although, the progression has been challenging, the completed areas of the canals have been functional and have proven useful to the surrounding communities. As a result, water disputes among the locals have minimizes as the canal provides water for the people and their agricultural needs.
The expansion of the canal rebuilding/ improvement project has continued to serve more communities and ensure accessibility to the water source. There is a small irrigation channel project in Bercy, Haiti that is currently in progress.
Hurricane Beryl that arose early July 2024 caused minor devastation on the island. The southern regions of Haiti experienced flooding of roads and farmlands. Despite the inclement weather, the locals were able to resume construction of the canals, shortly after the hurricane.
