Reading is a mind’s journey into a world of endless possibilities. But children settled in rural parts of India are far kept from the magic of books, due to lack of resources and opportunities. Through our Community Library Program, we aim at building local libraries that are overflowing with all genres of books, driving every child’s imagination to new horizons.
With your support, Agastya collected 20,100 books in Kuppam Library, collected 11,550 books cataloging. Digital library contains Collection of e-content which comprises 1800+ e-Books, and 1,500 + videos as on 30th September 2022.
Activities Conducted:
Building Vocabulary in their Mother Tongue and English, Sentence formation and story writing through “Pop-Up books” making, Comic story writing (recognize the difference between Original Text & Dialogue), Origami paper crafts (Different caps, figure puppets, gift box, and miniature book), Characterization, Dialogue narration & roll play through Mouth Puppet, Book Research through the activity “Pop-Up books and Book Club Activity.
Community Library programme and Maja Box programme: Book-based Activities: Conducting story-based activities and origami activities in the centers.
“MANA NESTHAM” (Our Friend) it is a Mobile School Library (MSL) concept. In this quarter from 1st July 2022 to 30th August 2022 reached 7 Schools with 600 children and 10 teachers. 1 MSL with 500 different category books. This session was conducted for 1 full day in each school, about 5 hrs.
Book Circulation: Children can borrow books from their community library.
During the last quarter, we reached 4,898 students’ exposures and 23 teachers’ exposures through Kuppam library. Children who visited library were the part of all the above activities. In Digital Library Activity, we reached 600 children exposures in the quarter July 2022 – September 2022.
