Steady progress as we near our goal.

In the ongoing development phase, the Kogelberg Biosphere Wildlife Rescue and Training Center is steadily progressing towards its goal of becoming a unique and officially sanctioned wildlife rehabilitation facility. David, our onsite handyman, has installed infrared cameras to observe future patients discreetly, enhancing our ethical approach to wildlife rehabilitation. Our volunteer program is operational, conducting weekly training sessions. With the aid of donated cabinets, construction of our kitchen has commenced under David's supervision. Fence Masters is prepared to install our perimeter fence pending approval from the municipality, anticipated soon. Once operational, we anticipate a rapid influx of activity, given the absence of similar wildlife rehabilitation centers in the Western Cape. Our primary focus will be on rehabilitating indigenous species affected by urbanization, aiming to reintegrate every injured or compromised patient into their natural habitat.

What is Wildlife Rehabilitation? "It is the treatment and TEMPORY care of injured, diseased or displaced INDIGENOUS animals, and the subsequent RELEASE of healthy animals back into the appropriate habitat in the wild".

We are not, and will never be, a sanctuary for non-releasable wildlife, nor will we display or keep education animals. As a rescue center we will essential be a hospital for wildlife, caring for the welfare of indigenous animals, irrespective of their conservation status. This is a relatively unique concept to the Western Cape, where wildlife sanctuaries are more the norm. For that reason it will take us time to break new ground, to change the thinking, and to share our vision.
