Love Weaves Connection!

Report Title: Weaving Hope and Independence! Connecting Hearts for Deafblindness in Venezuela

Impact: January to May 2026

We directly reached 139 professionals, 58 people with deafblindness, 27 people with disabilities, and 23 representatives, for a total of approximately 247 people and 42 institutions (11 international).

1. Resilience and Hope Amid Challenges (Context):
While the daily economic realities in Venezuela present major challenges, at SOCIEVEN’s Model Home, we don't slow down—we rise above! Fueled by an unwavering spirit and our incredible collaborative team—including volunteers, members, allies, people with deafblindness, and their families—we transform every hurdle into a stepping stone for joy and service. Your vital fundraising support is the bright light that keeps this beautiful sanctuary of inclusion operating. Together, we are proving that when hearts connect, no barrier is too high to overcome!

2. Celebrating Milestones with Joy! (January - May Impact):
Threads that transform lives! As we joyfully celebrate our 31st Anniversary, the SOCIEVEN National Network (RNS) has brought smiles and critical aid across Venezuela, delivering 252 impactful direct and indirect services. We are thrilled to share that your generosity directly touched the lives of 247 inspiring individuals (139 passionate professionals, 58 resilient people with deafblindness, 27 individuals with other disabilities, and 23 dedicated family members) in collaboration with 42 wonderful institutions:

  • Hands Weaving Freedom! (Weaving Together for Deafblindness Program): We successfully hosted 14 vibrant regional knitting sessions and 9 specialized classes at our Model Home. With every stitch, these remarkable women with deafblindness are weaving not just beautiful products, but their own path toward financial independence, self-worth, and absolute freedom! "They cannot see, and they cannot hear; now, they weave."
  • Comprehensive Healthcare & Care: We provided heartfelt medical support by coordinating 12 specialized consultations (Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology), 11 timely referrals, 7 dedicated medical accompaniments (including vital oncology check-ups), and 3 full functional assessments at our headquarters.
  • Spreading Accessible Education: We expanded learning boundaries by distributing 24 Deafblindness Support Guides, 2 Usher Syndrome Digital Kits, and learning materials to special needs schools. We also collaborated enthusiastically with Fe y Alegría to develop fully accessible educational scripts with the Impact Hub NGO.

Shining Internationally: In a permanent alliance with ICEVI Latin America, we are training 20 professionals from 8 different countries in pre-linguistic communication. SOCIEVEN’s expertise is proudly uplifting communities across the entire continent!

In Each Knot, a Purpose: We have contacted 28 institutions and companies; everything is ready for the wonderful "Echo of Hands" Weaving Exhibition and the "Dinner of the Senses" at the Los Galpones Art Center, touching hearts through art and empathy to raise funds. All of this is part of the program celebrating Deafblindness Awareness Month in June 2026, supporting the "Let Me In" Campaign by Deafblind International (DBI) and "Create/Connect" to raise awareness about deafblindness in Venezuela and around the world.

3. The Future We Are Building Together (Next Steps):
The journey ahead is bright, and we are eager to take the next steps with you by our side:

  • Expanding the scope of our 'Weaving Together For Deafblindness' community and large-scale accessibility programs.
  • Technological Innovation: Equipping our dedicated technical staff with two new laptops and digitalizing our Educational Resource Center (CRE) so that knowledge can be accessed effortlessly by everyone.
  • Strengthening Our Home: Securing the funding needed to bring a General Manager on board to optimize our operations, while creating unique, joyful local events and global alliances to ensure SOCIEVEN's long-term sustainability.

“No Oyen y No Ven, Ahora Tejen”
