Kids International Village Japan (KIV) provides opportunities for children to interact with people from around the world, learn about diverse cultures, and develop their English and multilingual skills. Our events are supported by volunteers from various nationalities, who introduce their languages and cultures through games, songs, dances, and a variety of intercultural activities. Events and classes are held in cities across Japan.
Japan is still a largely monocultural society. Most people in Japan, especially children, have little to no opportunities to interact with people from other cultures and participate in cultural exchange. Subsequently, foreigners living in Japan lack spaces where they can casually connect with the local Japanese community. In Japan, English is still widely seen as something learned and used exclusively in the classroom. Furthermore, private English classes can be inaccessible due to high costs.
Kids International Village Japan makes cultural exchange fun and accessible by creating interactive events with a low cost barrier. Our events give children the chance to explore different cultures, meet new people, and enjoy games and activities, all in English, the world's common language. Events are held regularly: International Village takes place 1-2 times a month, and Class Angels approximately once a month.
Participating children gain knowledge about different cultures and build confidence in their English skills, helping them grow into open-minded global citizens. They also develop lifelong communication abilities and a sustained curiosity about the world. In addition, foreign residents in Japan are given meaningful opportunities to connect with local communities and foster mutual understanding. This contributes to a more inclusive society where diversity and cultural exchange are valued.
