Kids for Patagonia Parks: reporte de avance abril 2020

Explorando Parque Nacional Alerce Andino
Explorando Parque Nacional Alerce Andino

English version

Thank you very much for supporting our first year in promoting a new generation of guardians of the national parks in Chile!

In this first year, we carried out a series of activities with hundreds of children and young people in National Parks along Chilean Patagonia. We carry out exploration activities, educational talks and volunteering in Alerce Andino National Park and Pali Aike National Park, with the aim to rethink our relationship with ecosystems, the natural history and the importance of conservation.

Today the health crisis resulting from COVID-19 leads us to be at home and invites us to reflect on how it is linked to the environmental and species extinction crisis we are going through. We will visit our parks again, for sure, but today we are researching and generating content for all ages in order to invite children and young people to discover the wild world and protected areas, what is in them, what can be discovered and why conservation is a need.

Then, when the health emergency passes, we will program new outings to discover on the ground and open doors and gazes to the world of nature and conservation.

We also want to invite you to support our Public Education Project about National Parks, that will support our work to generate documentaries and exhibitions about protected natural heritage. The invitation to support our new project is here: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/education-campaign-on-patagonia-national-parks/

These are our first steps on this long journey of promoting a park culture. An invitation to be guardians of our national parks, guardians of the future. Thanks for being part!
