Despite many efforts, our project has been unable to gain the needed momentum. We have tried to partner with international companies to get the word out about the project, sent the project several times to our own contacts, publicized several times through social media, and asked friends of the organization to reach out to their networks, as well. Thus, unfortunately, we have decided to close the project for additional fundraising. With the donations we have received, though we will not be able to completely renovate the center, we will make some critical repairs and renovations. We hope to send a final update, once the repairs/renovations are complete.
We thank all of you for your interest in the project and for your support.
We have been hard at work trying to find new ways to get the word out about our project. We have reached out to various networks, both in Turkey and the US, trying to determine new strategies. Sadly, our efforts have not yielded strong results, and we need your help to get the word out about this incredibly valuable project.
The kids that come to our activity locations primarily come from disadvantaged backgrounds, with large family sizes, low socioeconomic levels, low educational attainment levels, and a struggling public education. Our locations are a beacon of light in their lives; a stark contrast to their daily lives; colorful, inspiring places where they can be nurtured and encouraged by our rich array of education programs and by their interaction with the big brothers and sisters that are our volunteers.
However, with 72 locations throughout the country (making us the most widespread educational organizaiton after the Ministry of Education), we struggle to find the resources to maintain our locations. This project is important in that it will provide essential resources to provide a quality educational experience for our kids.
Thank you for your support of this project thus far. If you have any ideas about how we can better promote this project, if you have any friends that may be interested, please let us know.
Our community center project continues to struggle, as our outreach efforts have yielded insufficient results. Though we have done a series of email blasts and even introduced the project to a handful of corporate audiences, donations are slow.
Yet, we are eager to make this project work and bring new life to the Community Center in Adana. Currently, we are working locally, in and around the center's immediate communities, to see if we can find support from our neighbors.
However, we would also greatly appreciate your help. If you have the time, please send the project's link to a few friends, see if their interested: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/kids-community-turkey/
Though donations have been slow this first year, we are not giving up and greatly appreciate all of your support thus far.
Together, we still believe that we can bring this community center back to life. From our end, we will be working hard to find the best places to reach out to and get more and more people behind this project.
Thank you for your time and any additional help you may give in getting the word out.
Though our project is off to a slow start, we would like to thank all of our donors until now. Please help us get the word out about this project and bring life to our community center!
Serving over 1400 students per year, our Ozgenturk location is in need of repairs and renovation, to create a colorful, child-friendly space that is welcoming for our kids. For children, the space in which they learn is critical. From their surroundings, children find inspiration, motivation, creativity and learning. Our goal at TEGV is to create spaces that children come running to, a space just for them, where they can let their imagination and curiosity grow.
With everyone coming back from their vacations in September, we are planning a huge blast about our project in a few weeks. We are excited to get the word out and see what Fall has in store!
Again, we thank all of you for your support and belief in the importance of this project.
