From the Mat to the Podium: Khel Athletes Compete

It has been a proud few weeks for Khel. Our young athletes competed at two external championships in Karachi and came home with medals — and with something harder to measure but equally important: the confidence that comes from standing on a competitive stage and holding your own.

At the 4th Sindh Boy Scouts All Karachi Inter-School Gymnastics Championship, organised by the Sindh Gymnastics Association in collaboration with the Sindh Boy Scouts Association, our girls’ team placed 2nd and our boys’ team placed 3rd. What makes these results particularly meaningful is that this is an entirely new generation of Khel gymnasts. They have been trained by Head Coach Furqan Raja alongside a team of assistant coaches who were themselves Khel gymnasts not long ago — young people who learned on this same mat, in this same community, and are now giving back by coaching the next cohort. That cycle of investment and return is something we are deeply proud of, and it speaks to what a long-term commitment to sport can build within a community.

At the Whales College Table Tennis Championship, four of our girls stepped onto an external competitive platform and finished in 2nd place. Trained by coaches Furqan Khan and Sameera, these young women have come a long way from their first sessions at Khel. Table tennis may seem like a quieter sport, but the focus, discipline and determination it demands are anything but — and our girls have all of that in abundance.

Three podium finishes. Two sports. One community that keeps showing up, keeps training, and keeps proving that talent and potential have nothing to do with postcodes or circumstances.

None of this happens without you. Thank you for believing in these children and for making Khel possible.
