Rebuilding the Hill Country, Together
Message From the CEO
Two and a half months have passed since flooding again struck the Hill Country on July 16. For hundreds of our neighbors, recovery means a safe place to sleep, repairs to a damaged home, keeping a business open or simply figuring out what comes next.
September has marked an important transition from immediate response to longer-term recovery.
Since July, emergency assistance has helped more than 1,100 households across the region, significant investments have been made in small-business recovery and disaster case management and temporary housing assistance have expanded.
Now, home repair and rebuilding are underway. On Sept. 18, the first households were referred to home repair organizations funded by the Community Foundation: an important milestone as families move from immediate assistance toward permanency.
Recovery from the 2025 and 2026 floods will take more than a year, not just a few months. But across Kerr County, families are returning home, businesses are rebuilding and nonprofits, churches, governments, donors and neighbors are working together to move recovery forward.
We will keep going.
By the Numbers
Families across the Hill Country continue to connect with financial assistance, case managers, housing assistance and recovery resources based on their individual needs.
Each number represents a household moving through the recovery process and helps recovery partners understand where resources are needed most.
Community Foundation Continues Housing Assistance for Flood-Affected Households
Temporary housing assistance continues to reach households displaced by the July 16 flood. Through the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, eligible households in Kerr County and Comfort can receive up to three months of assistance, administered by First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville.
Already, nine households have received assistance, with another 17 households approved for support. As families continue moving through the recovery process, the Community Foundation and its partners will continue connecting households with temporary housing while case managers help families determine their next steps toward longer-term recovery.
