Over 100 people died and hundreds of others sustained after massive landslides hit hilly areas near Meppadi in Kerala's Wayanad district early on Tuesday. Around 700 people have been rescued from Mudakkayi village, provided medical aid and evacuated to safer places. As many as 165 bodies have been identified so far. At least 158 people have been killed, and over 180 were injured after massive landslides struck the hilly areas near Meppadi in Wayanad. According to government data, over 100 people are feared to be trapped under debris. Three landslides struck Wayanad within a span of four hours on Tuesday amid heavy rain, leaving a trail of destruction in Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages. Several people were swept away in the Chaliyar river.
It took only 2 hours for the landslide to happen and these 2 hours has washed away 6000 families. Day by day the death toll is increasing. We can support them with relief materials like food, water, blankets, dresses, sanitary napkins and under rehabilitation house hold goods, reconstruction of shelters, educational utilities for children and a lot more will be of great support.
