Dear Donors
Karitas Relief Mission continues to implement the Keeping Village Families Safe from Malaria project to help protect vulnerable families and children from malaria, which remains a serious health challenge in many rural communities.
The project focuses on increasing access to mosquito nets and strengthening community awareness about malaria prevention. By supporting families with effective protection against mosquito bites, we aim to reduce the risk of malaria and promote healthier communities.
2. Activities Conducted
During the reporting period, Karitas Relief Mission continued engaging with community members and assessing the need for mosquito nets.
Through our recent discussions and community consultations, we have observed that the number of families requesting mosquito nets continues to increase. This has shown us that the need in the communities is greater than initially anticipated.
We are therefore reviewing our original plans and adjusting the project budget so that we can respond to the increased demand and reach more vulnerable families.
3. Progress and Achievements
The project has made encouraging progress:
- Continued assessment of families requiring mosquito nets.
- Increased awareness of the importance of malaria prevention.
- Engagement with community members to understand the current level of need.
- Identification of additional families who require mosquito nets.
- Review of the initial project budget in response to the growing demand.
- Continued planning for the distribution of mosquito nets to vulnerable households.
4. Community Need
The increasing number of requests demonstrates that malaria prevention remains an important priority for rural families.
Many households have limited resources to purchase adequate mosquito nets on their own. Children, pregnant women, older people, and other vulnerable members of households can be particularly affected when families lack effective protection from mosquito bites.
The growing demand has made it necessary for Karitas Relief Mission to reconsider the initial number of mosquito nets planned for distribution.
5. Challenges
The main challenge is that the number of families needing mosquito nets is increasing beyond our initial projections. As a result, the original budget is no longer sufficient to meet the identified need.
Limited financial resources also make it difficult to provide mosquito nets to every family requesting assistance.
6. Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission plans to:
- Continue identifying vulnerable families who need mosquito nets.
- Update the project target based on the latest community assessment.
- Adjust the project budget to reflect the increased demand.
- Mobilize additional resources to purchase and distribute more mosquito nets.
- Continue educating families about malaria prevention.
- Monitor the distribution and use of mosquito nets within the communities.
7. Conclusion
The Keeping Village Families Safe from Malaria project continues to demonstrate the significant need for malaria prevention support in rural communities. The increasing demand for mosquito nets has encouraged us to expand our response and seek additional resources so that more families can be protected.
Karitas Relief Mission remains committed to working with communities to reduce the risk of malaria and help families live healthier and safer lives.
Every mosquito net provided represents an important step toward protecting a family from malaria.
