EMPOWERING GIRLS THROUGH EDUCATION AND HYGIENE

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

For many girls in rural Uganda, menstruation has long been a hidden challenge that disrupts education. Limited access to sanitary products often forces girls to miss classes and lose confidence. Through donor support, we are empowering girls with the tools and knowledge they need to remain in school.

During this period, menstrual hygiene kits were distributed to vulnerable students in several schools. The kits included reusable sanitary pads and hygiene supplies designed to provide long-term support. Alongside these distributions, we conducted educational sessions focused on menstrual health, self-care, and reproductive health awareness.

The results have been inspiring. Beneficiary girls reported feeling more comfortable attending school during their menstrual cycles. Teachers noted improved concentration and participation among students who previously struggled with attendance during menstruation.

The project also emphasized community engagement. Parents and local leaders were invited to participate in awareness meetings aimed at addressing stigma and promoting support for adolescent girls. These discussions have helped foster a more inclusive and understanding environment.

Many girls expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn without fear of embarrassment or interruption. By ensuring that menstrual health challenges do not prevent education, the project is helping young women build confidence and pursue their dreams.

Your generosity continues to provide hope, dignity, and opportunity for girls who deserve every chance to succeed.
