When schools reopened in 2021, it was clear that many challenges lay ahead. With only 22% of children having accessed ongoing learning opportunities while schools were closed, and the grave economic and social impact of COVID on our communities, we understood it to be critically important to support our school partners to bring children back to school safely, with a focus on helping them to learn and thrive.
The Dignitas team, in collaboration with our school partners, designed a set of 8 training and coaching modules to support school leaders and teachers with new skills and strategies they might need. These included parental engagement, learning recovery or catch-up, using technology, socio-emotional well-being, and supporting children at risk of drop out.
Thanks to your support, we saw some amazing results:
77% of teachers and school leaders were able to recognise and re-engage learners at risk
58% of teachers and school leaders are now implementing strategies for remedial learning
95% of teachers and school leaders are now providing psychosocial support for learner well-being
78% of teachers and school leaders report that training and coaching has helped them to feel adequately supported
We're excited to see our learners and schools get back on track, and are committed to continuing to support them so that all children can thrive and succeed.
