This project will keep 200 at-risk children in Uganda's low-income communities in school by covering fees, meals, uniforms, and learning materials. Many face dropout due to household poverty, unstable incomes, and overcrowded conditions. Alongside education support, students will participate in school-based tree planting and climate awareness activities, building resilience while staying engaged in class and preparing for a more stable future.
Uganda has one of the world's youngest populations, yet school dropout remains high, especially after primary level. National data shows that fewer than half of children who start primary school complete lower secondary. In low-income communities, poverty, unstable incomes, and overcrowded living conditions prevent families from affording fees, meals, uniforms, and materials, pushing many children out of school and into long-term vulnerability.
This project will remove financial barriers that push children out of school by covering fees, meals, uniforms, and learning materials for 200 at-risk students in low-income communities. By ensuring consistent attendance and reducing household burden, children can stay engaged in class. School-based tree planting and climate awareness activities will also strengthen environmental responsibility and resilience while supporting long-term stability.
By keeping 200 at-risk children in school, this project will increase completion rates, improve learning outcomes, and expand future employment opportunities. Educated children are more likely to break cycles of poverty and support their families sustainably. Through school-based tree planting and climate awareness, students will also grow into environmentally responsible citizens, strengthening long-term community resilience to economic and climate challenges.
