First Phase of School Pad Bank Project Begins

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We sincerely thank our donors for the generous support shown to the Keep 1,000 Girls in School With Free Monthly Pads project. Your kindness has already made a meaningful difference, and we are pleased to share that the contributions received now allow us to begin the first stage of this effort.

Many girls in rural Nigerian schools miss several days of class each month because they cannot afford sanitary pads. Some rely on unsafe materials such as rags or tissue, while others remain at home to avoid embarrassment. These repeated absences affect their learning and, for some girls, lead to falling behind or eventually leaving school.

With the support already received, we will begin the project in one rural school as the first phase. Our team has started making the necessary preparations so the pad bank can be established and serve the girls in that school.

The cost for constructing the pad bank has now been confirmed. Transportation and logistics arrangements for delivering supplies have also been finalized. In addition, stipends for volunteers who will help coordinate the distribution and support the girls have been planned so that the work can proceed smoothly.

Once the pad bank is set up, girls in the school will be able to receive sanitary pads regularly during the school year. This will help them remain in class during their menstrual periods and continue learning without interruption.

We are grateful for the generosity that has made this first step possible. In our next report, we look forward to sharing photographs and videos from the school so that donors can see the direct impact of their support on the lives of the girls benefiting from this project.

Sincerely,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
