Girls Missing School While Waiting for Menstrual

By Joy O. Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are writing to share an urgent situation affecting our project to provide menstrual pads for schoolgirls in rural Nigeria. We have not yet received any donations to begin this important work, and the consequences for these young women are already being felt.

Right now, girls are missing school because they cannot afford basic sanitary pads. Many are using rags or other unsafe materials during their periods, forcing them to stay home to avoid embarrassment. Every week that passes means more girls fall behind in their studies, and some may drop out of school completely.

Our plan to help 1,000 girls is ready to implement. We have identified schools where pad banks would make the biggest difference. We have suppliers ready to provide quality sanitary products. What we lack are the funds to purchase and distribute these essential items.

The need could not be more clear. When girls miss school each month, they lose valuable learning time. Their education suffers, and their future opportunities become limited. This is a solvable problem that is having lifelong consequences for these young women.

We are asking for your support to change this reality. Your contribution can provide a girl with the basic supplies she needs to stay in school and continue her education. It can help prevent another promising student from dropping out because of her period.

With hope and respect,
Joy O. Etubi
