Dear Friends,
We would like to thank you for supporting our film project. During the 2nd Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, we premiered the film at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center. The venue was fully packed. The majority of the audience members were young New Yorkers, who were unaware of the 1982 March and Rally for Nuclear Disarmament in Central Park.
Following the premiere of the film, we hosted a special panel discussion about the film and the significance of the March and Rally. Panelists included: Vincenti, Author of Saving the World from Nuclear War: The June 12 1982, Disarmament Rally and Beyond; Jim, President of Peace Action New York State; and Jeremiah, a youth activist for RTT. Molly, RTT's Project Manager, served as the moderator. The panelists touched upon the intersectional impact of nuclear weapons, the significance of the rally, and the importance of the media in covering nuclear disarmament affairs.
After the event, members of the film team met and discussed the next steps regarding the distribution of the film. The team will enter the film into various festivals and will also plan multiple panels throughout the US to highlight the intersectional impact of nuclear weapons and the need to empower young and diverse activists. We are looking forward to showing the film at different venues.
Please kindly support us, so we can continue this amazing journey.
Thank you,
Christian, RTT Project Coordinator
